Jazz Festival held each year in Tsfat

Celebrating traditional Jewish music and bringing over a quarter of a million tourists from both Israel and abroad to the area each year--the Klezmer Jazz Festival is not one to miss.

The Yiddish word klezmer derives from two Hebrew roots: klei (“vessel” or “instrument”) and zemer (“song”). From the 18th century on in eastern Europe, klezmer largely superseded other Yiddish terms for instrumentalists, such as shpilman (“player” or “musician”), muzikant (“musician,” eventually used for the classically trained), or leyts (“jester,” an entertainer).

There are an estimated 100 shows lined up each year by the world’s leading Klezmer musicians. Performances usually kick off at 9 pm each night, and play in 30 minutes sessions.

A master of sound and healing who mesmerizes audiences with his unique singing and music. The show will combine original musical pieces, sweeping improvisations, and a rare combination of rhythm and sound, fire and air. Sometimes the audience singing will be an inseparable part of the work and for moments the deep listening will fill the space. We invite you to join us in a new and exciting musical journey.

The community of Tsedar HaAretz in Safed and Bar Mystic Mountain are proud to host the singer and artist Bar Aloni who comes to us from Munich for a tour in Israel and starts here in Safed.
