Glen Epstein was a professor at the University of Iowa for over 30 years. We are all students of his, still learning from his handouts in Callligraphy. He was honored in Berlin as a famous Calligrapher prior to his passing.

However, I think most would agree that his pride and joy came toward the end of his life--when his work was set to music by a favorite musician of his: Tom Waits & Glen's callilgraphy version of Waltzing Matilda. Calligraphy Pen & Refill ink cartridges
The tip of your calligraphy pen will have a BROAD, MEDIUM or FINE tip which is called a NIB. When learning Fractur Calligraphy, we will only be using the BROAD nib. Do not purchase the MEDIUM or FINE nibs. They are used for different kinds of calligraphic alphabets. Your pen will be sold with only one ink cartridge. Be sure to purchase an ink refill pack. They will be sold in an array of colors. Always have at least one, black ink cartridge on hand for reproduction purposes.

The paper you practice your calligraphy writing on is a grid-like pad.
There are many companies out there who create all different sizes of grid paper: 5 x 5, 3 x 3, 4 x 4 lines per inch...are all examples. You need the 5 x 5 grid paper. Be sure the lines printed on it are blue.
Where to purchase supplies?
Get on EBAY and order if you have no luck checking your local art supply store. If everyone has their supplies on the first night, we will begin writing. If you don't have them by week 2, we don't wait for you. Get your supplies & bring them with you every week.
